Counselor Catch-Up: Your Ticket to the Latest and Greatest

This session will include a detailed review of any recent updates to school counseling handbooks, highlighting changes in policies, procedures, and best practices. This discussion ensures that counselors are fully informed about any modifications to their guidelines and expectations, enabling them to navigate their responsibilities effectively.

Next, the focus of the session will shift to protocols, where school counselors learn about any new or revised procedures for handling various situations, such as crisis interventions, student referrals, or confidentiality protocols. By staying up-to-date on protocols, counselors can ensure a consistent and efficient approach to supporting students and addressing their needs.

The session will also cover any updates to the school counseling curriculum, including new resources, materials, or approaches that enhance student learning and development.

Moreover, the session will address, if any, changes in laws and regulations relevant to school counseling, ensuring counselors are aware of their legal obligations and rights. Topics may include updates to student privacy laws, anti-bullying legislation, or mandates related to college and career readiness.

School counselors should leave feeling confident and prepared to implement the updates effectively in their daily practice, ultimately enhancing their ability to support students and contribute positively to the school community.
