Unlocking Strategic Thinking Through Classroom Discourse

Rather than thinking K-12, let’s think 12-K! Students need content knowledge and soft skills to be proficient in reading, writing, talking, listening, and investigating upon graduation. Using the Alabama 2021 ELA Recurring Standards as language processes to catapult the mastery of standards, teachers can ensure a rich and purposeful language environment to promote rich and purposeful thinking in every content class. Language is the natural key component of the success of these connections to increase thinking in the classroom. Participants will delve into the continuum of the ELA Recurring Standards in grade bands and discover the progression of processes that lead the learner to the mastery of the content standards through critical thinking.
