What does a balanced literacy classroom look like? We’ll explore the components of balanced literacy and how the interrelationships between each component contribute to a students' literacy development. We’ll also break down the milestones of the gradual release of responsibility as it frees students to forge their unique path to exploring and interpreting the world.
Participants will be able to:
• Define Balanced Literacy and its components.
• Explain the purpose of Guided Reading and its role in a Balanced Literacy classroom.
• Explain how to select appropriate leveled text for small groups and independent practice.
