A Multidisciplinary Approach for Addressing Health-related Causes of Absenteeism

Teachers, administrators, school nurses, and registrars are vital school team members that bridge education and health, supporting student attendance and addressing chronic absenteeism. Addressing the diverse healthcare needs of individual student absenteeism requires collaboration, proactive approaches, and community engagement that identifies and builds on protective and restorative factors. Participants will learn about the most common health-related causes of chronic absenteeism, including county data, with examples of the multidisciplinary team working together to promote student and family engagement that has positively impacted school attendance.
